Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter (born Holly Hunter) is an American actress and producer. She is gaining recognition for her outstanding roles in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. She won several awards including an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. Her career in acting started in Broadway by performing in a range of Broadway and Off Broadway productions. As a child, Helen Keller was her favourite character in a fifth grade production. Her mumps left her blind and deaf in the one ear. But she did not allow this hinder her progress as an actress. In her early years, she was a drama student in college before moving into New York City from Pittsburgh in order to follow her dreams. Hunter met Beth Henley by chance in the lift. They wrote together Broadway Crimes of the Heart. The play was Hunter's first acting debut. After moving into Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure a supporting role on Swing Shift. In the years since, she has been in many television series and movies throughout a span of more than 30 years. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
